The Crimmel Family- Brett, Tricia, Brittany, Zachary & Jacob (17)
Growing up as a pastor's kid, I've loved being a part of the local church as long as I can remember. The unique part of that story for me is that our family moved all over the U.S. every few years as we followed God’s call. It was certainly a great way to learn to make friends quickly, do hard things and invest in the local church. After all, when church is the reason you move, you learn to jump in both feet first.
I was raised in a Christian home and at the young age of six, my mom had a conversation with me where I realized I never wanted to live without Jesus. That was the answer to prayers for my parents and the start of my life with Jesus. I’m so grateful that I don't remember life without Him.
After spending some time as the Programming Director out on the East Coast for a few years, I now have the privilege of serving on the team at Saddleback Church in Southern California. It’s been such a growing experience to join the team while only doing church online because of the pandemic, then regathering outside, and finally renovating & re-opening our Lake Forest campus worship center. I love interacting with multiple departments on our team and helping them work together well on projects, the most frequent being weekend services.
As they say, "ministry is all about people." And I think that’s the best way to do it. Working together as a team (both on a staff and volunteer level), we’re able to use the gifts that God has entrusted with each of us to help build the Kingdom. Being able to have “I see in you,” conversations with people and developing them and helping them reach their next step allows us to be better leaders, them to be better Kingdom workers (Ephesians 4:12) and the Kingdom to be better because they are functioning in their giftedness. In doing so, we’re able to reach people - whether it’s for the first time or once again - and see more people meet Jesus.
